The menu says “Microphone not found”

Connect the HyperX QuadCast S by USB, directly or through a hub that carries data. MicGlow finds it within a few seconds; nothing needs to be restarted. QuadCast 2, QuadCast 2 S and DuoCast are not supported yet.

The menu says “Microphone busy”

Another lighting tool is using the microphone, for example the quadcastrgb command. Quit it, and MicGlow reconnects within five seconds.

The lights go back to the rainbow when I quit MicGlow

That's how the microphone works: it keeps custom colors only while an app keeps sending them. Leave MicGlow running in the menu bar. It uses about 0.3% CPU.

How do I start MicGlow automatically?

Open the MicGlow menu, choose Settings… and turn on Launch at login. You can also manage it in System Settings → General → Login Items (Login Items & Extensions in macOS 15 and later).

How do I turn the lights off?

Choose the Off preset and the microphone goes dark. The Lighting switch in the menu stops MicGlow instead, and the microphone returns to its built-in rainbow.

Can I enter exact colors?

Yes. In Settings…, click a color square: you get the palette, a HEX field and R, G, B values from 0 to 255.
